QUALITY MATTERS: GenTex Heaters Proven More Efficient

GenTex heaters have been tested against our competitors, and it has been continually proven that our heaters are both more efficient, and durable, due to their superior design. Our heaters have consistently proven to be 10-15% more efficient than our Canadian competitors, and up to 25% more efficient than heaters manufactured by our American competitors. Increased efficiency allows GenTex customers to save on fuel, and with the rising cost of fuel, customer savings are adding up quick!  A recent study has shown that with a 15% increase in efficiency, and the associated fuel savings, a GenTex™ heater will pay for itself in one year, and with a 25% increase in efficiency, a GenTex heater will pay for itself in as little as seven months.

Movers & Shakers of Central Alberta

Name:
Garett Cupples

Job Title:
President/general manager

Business/enterprise:
GenTex Oilfield Manufacturing Inc.

Number of employees:
28

How long in Central Alberta?
40 years (born and raised in Red Deer)

Family Ties:
Wife Brenda; son Connor (13); daughter Erin (12) and Britt (9). My mom and dad, brother and two sisters all live in Central Alberta.

Community involvement:
Currently I’m a regional director with the PC Party of Alberta, and sit on the board of managers for Knox Presbyterian Church. I have worked on several political campaigns for municipal, provincial and federal elections as well numerous fundraisers. Past involvement includes director for Chamber of Commerce, Big Brother and minor soccer coach as well as a parent on school councils.

Hobbies and interests:
Travel, reading, golfing, snowmobiling and camping. Nothing beats spending time with the family and friends and having laughs!

Proudest accomplishment:
Raising three great kids (I’m biased) and having a great wife/friend! Also, having a business that markets and sells internationally is something I’m proud of.

Best career/life advice I was ever given:
I have two that come to mind. A good friend said he was told as he was being promoted to tool push: “Always be good to your roughnecks because someday you’ll be working for them!” which is an oilfield comparison to climbing the corporate ladder and not burning bridges (my wife gives this advice also). My father’s advice was: “Never ask anyone to do something you wouldn’t do yourself; lead by example.”

Best business decision I ever made:
Buying a competitor in the United States. It helped to increase our American and international profile, which opened some previously closed doors.

What I like most about Central Alberta?
What’s not to like? We’re central to Edmonton and Calgary and still have most of the amenities without the big city atmosphere. Generally speaking, the people are honest and hardworking and easygoing. There’s a reason many people want to take transfers to Red Deer but very few leave. I have travelled to many places and I’m always glad to come home.

Pet Peeve:
Again I have two. Unaccountable people; people who don’t (or won’t) take responsibility for their actions and instead make excuses. Another peeve is political correctness.
